My Teaching Ethos

The classroom is a third teacher

I am dedicated to fostering an engaging and comfortable environment for both students and myself, guided by the philosophy that my classroom is a third teacher. Acknowledging the substantial time spent within the classroom, I take immense pride in introducing and hand-crafting learning resources. These include designing personalised phonics resources to suit and support learners in the context of the Middle East to enhance vocabulary and scaffold writing.
I resource my classroom with a broad range of texts to engage all readers and support creativity in their writing and ensures a positive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. This reflects my belief in the pivotal role the classroom plays as an influential educator.

Embracing Collaboration

The collaborative nature of teaching is a cornerstone of my approach. By actively engaging within both my school and the broader teaching community, I am committed to creating a collective learning environment. I encourage collaborative environments where pupils work to celebrate one another's achievements and support each other though partner work, effective use of TA in lessons, tasks that promote collaboration. Outside the classroom, I ensure to establish and maintain strong relationships with parents through celebrating students’ achievements and guiding and supporting learning through communication tools such as Seesaw.

Interactivity and engagement - Making learning a pleasure

My commitment to thoughtful planning and design is evident in the careful consideration given to worksheets, lesson plans, and teaching slides. I understand the impact of a well-designed layout on student engagement. Utilising the interactive capabilities within tools such as PowerPoint and SMART into lesson plans, I aim to create a dynamic and enjoyable learning environment that promotes active student participation.

Promoting inclusivity

In my teaching practice, promoting inclusivity is a fundamental principle that guides my approach. I have established a diverse range of learning areas within a continuous provision setup, allowing students to take ownership of their learning and make choices aligned with their interests and abilities. By collaborating with the school counsellor, I helped embed music into outdoor learning contexts, enriching the educational experience for all students. I prioritise accessibility by providing a wide range of resources that cater to learners of varying abilities, ensuring that every student can fully engage with the curriculum. Additionally, my commitment to promoting inclusivity extends to my personal development, as I am eager to pursue a Master's degree in an SEN-related subject. Through these initiatives, I strive to create an educational environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
